Today, the development of metro lines as one of the urban transportation systems is one of the major issues in metropolitan areas. Wasting time and energy, increasing the cost of living, and increasing environmental pollution in urban life are some of the consequences of ignoring the role of rail transportation. The development of lines and the commissioning of new lines in the Tehran metro network are among the requirements of this metropolis. In the present study, using a spatial panel data model and a new approach in the use of spatial weight matrix, during 1397: 12-1393: 1 factors affecting the increase in the number of passengers and the effects of overflow of intersection stations on Tehran metro lines with the aim of investigating the extent of Tehran metro network in the use of public transport are needed. After performing various tests, the spatial lag model with random effects was confirmed. The results of estimating the SAR model show that the correlation between the number of passengers through the interchange stations channel is about 19% and if the number of interchange stations per line increases, the number of passengers on other lines will increase significantly. The direct and indirect effect of the number of stations on each line shows that increasing the number of stations has a 2.6% effect on the number of passengers on the lines, and this effect is also significant if crossing the interchange stations channel. Due to the low price of energy in the country, the price of oil has not had a significant effect on reducing or increasing the number of passengers, but the direct and indirect effect of ticket prices, which is considered as a possible rate ceiling in each period, is negative and significant. . The results of the present study show the need to pay attention to the effects of overflow of interchange stations and the number of stations in the development of Tehran metro lines.
