Abstract
The increased elderly population in conjunction with the growth of urban life and living in residential complexes has created new demands. Hence, providing appropriate environmental conditions for this group especially the outdoor space of the residential environment that is available to them, is highly important. The present research has been carried out with the purpose of providing environmental optimization solutions in the outdoor space of residential complexes taking into account the effects of elements of biophilic aproach.The research method is mixed (qualitative and quantitative). In order to do the data analysis, the SPSS 24, and Pearson correlation and single sample t-tests were used. The results indicate that there is a correlation and significant relationship between the elements of the biophilic approach and the components of environmental adaptation (environmental quality). Regarding the effects it should be stated that biophilic activity has the greatest effect (5.38) and nature of space (2.25) has the least effect. Among the 44 items of biophilic elements, the highest effects belong to the green space (4.53), the relaxed feeling of being in the nature (4.49), the smell of flowers and plants (4.49) and the variety of trees (4.41) and the least effects are related to not being afraid of dense trees (2.55) and cloudy and rainy weather (2.69); and 6 items have no effect on the quality and adaptation of the environment. From the obtained qualitative results, we can point out the importance of indicators such as cleanliness, cleanliness, communication with all age groups and living in a familiar place. Solutions in three physical, activity-social and semantic dimensions have been presented considering the impact of biophilic approach elements on this category. Certainly, optimization of the environments available to the elderly in order to spend a dynamic old age and enhancing their life quality will be effective in achieving sustainable aging.
