Today, cities face many challenges in the economic, social and environmental fields, while the increase in population along with the increasing proportion of urbanization has brought harmful consequences for cities. Continuation of such urbanization with social, economic and environmental problems is a crisis and a warning of the instability of cities. In the meantime, other problems such as various types of pollution, traffic problems and psychological problems, etc., greatly reduce the quality of life and, consequently, livability in cities. Therefore, the necessity and importance of the issue of livability is quite obvious in cities today. Viability is one of the concepts and approaches that ultimately brings a city away from all kinds of pollution, traffic, environmental, economic, social and physical problems for citizens. The term livability refers to the degree to which a society's needs are met based on the needs and capacities of its people. A non-livable society ignores the needs of its people and does not respect their wishes. Sustainability is generally divided into three dimensions: economic, social and environmental, each of which has separate indicators. The purpose of this study is to compare the viability indices in the worn texture (with and without heritage) and the new texture of Yazd. The research method is descriptive-analytical with an applied purpose. The data required for the analysis were collected using a questionnaire. The study sample based on Cochran's formula is 400 people. Data were analyzed using SPSS software, ARCGIS and statistical tests including (factor analysis and multivariate linear regression). The statistical population includes residents of dilapidated (historical and dilapidated) and new areas of Yazd. The results show that livability in all three economic, social and environmental dimensions in the dilapidated fabric of Yazd is not in a good condition and also the historical texture is not in a good condition compared to the new texture. And the best situation in terms of viability indicators is the new texture of Yazd.
