According to the definitions, housing includes the place of living, the entire residential space and related services and infrastructures. Therefore, in assessment of housing quality, condition of facilities and services of residential unit should be taken into account. Nevertheless, studies have often focused on the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of residential unit, and evaluation of infrastructure has received less attention. Hence, evaluating the quality of housing in terms of level of services and infrastructures in urban residences of Isfahan metropolis is the purpose of this article.
This research is descriptive-analytical in terms of applied purpose and method. The required statistics are extracted from the general population and housing census of 2016 and the statistical yearbook of Isfahan, published in 2019.
The indicators used in this research include 72 indicators in 10 groups as follows:
quality of green space, quality and quantity of construction, status of erosion, status of construction violations, status of services and infrastructure, health, Cultural indicators, sports, aesthetic and financial indicators.
Finally, Urban areas are ranked based on defined indicators and by use of VIKOR method were classified into three groups in terms of development. Regions one, three and six were classified as developed regions, regions five, four and eleven were classified as semi-developed regions, and regions two, seven, eight, nine, ten, twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen were classified as less- developed.
According to the results, only 15% of the city's area is in a developed state, while the share of less-developed areas is equal to 58% of the entire city's area. This issue indicates the lack of stability in the housing sector and the need for
