Cities, as centers of population and economic activity, play a crucial role in today's world. However, urban growth and development often come with various environmental damages. One serious consequence of this development is the reduction and destruction of green spaces within cities. Given the reduction in green spaces, the need for recreational spaces, improved air quality in the city, and the vital importance of suitable and optimal location of urban green spaces are considered crucial. The main issue examined in this article is the location of urban green spaces and its significance for improving the quality of life for citizens and preserving the environment. This article investigates how to plan and locate suitable green spaces in cities to enhance the quality of life for citizens. The main goal of this research is to examine the location of green spaces in the city of Shiraz using a descriptive-analytical method, based on compatible and incompatible land uses, accessibility, and population criteria formulated from reputable sources and articles. To achieve this, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy method will be used to evaluate and select suitable locations for establishing green spaces in the city. The research results, based on the overlap of existing park areas in Shiraz with the map of optimal locations extracted from location criteria, indicate that regions 6, 7, 1, 2, 10, 11, 9 have the majority of parks located within the optimal range of over 60%, while other regions 3, 5, 8, 4 have some parks located within the undesirable range of less than 40% optimal. Proposed green space locations for future development are suggested based on regional differentiation in the location map. Ultimately, it is essential to emphasize that the location of green spaces should be both quantitatively and qualitatively accessible to ensure necessary efficiency in the city. By selecting optimal urban green spaces, cities can contribute to creating a fairer, more sustainable future.
